20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall – the Festival of Freedom

On the evening of 9 November, the Festival of Freedom began with an open-air concert on Pariser Platz at 7pm. The programme contained numerous highlights and provided the spectators with an unforgettable evening.

Putting on the anthem “We Are One”, DJ Paul van Dyk launched the final show at the Brandenburg Gate at 8.30pm. FLASH ART staged the fireworks, carefully synchronised with music arranged by Christian Steinhäuser. From more than 30 locations on the Brandenburg Gate, adjacent buildings and elevated positions in the Tiergarten, FLASH ART ignited the fireworks. Round the Brandenburg Gate alone, in about one and a half minutes more than 1,000 individual effects were ignited. For the first time ever, permission was given to launch such fireworks directly from the top of the Brandenburg Gate. In order not to damage this world-famous, listed monument, FLASH ART applied exceptionally high security standards. Thus, the effects were specially selected for the “Festival of Freedom”. From 5 November, 12 experienced technicians ensured a smooth installation and implementation of the project. Top-ranking politicians and a great number of special guests of honour followed the staging, planned to the second, at close range. Again, FLASH ART took great care to meet the highest security demands. FLASH ART is proud to have participated in this important anniversary of German history.
