Classic Arts for the U21 World Championship in Abu Dhabi

The challenge
Arrangement of a spectacular multimedia show on the occasion of the opening and closing ceremonies of the U21 soccer World Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The solution
We arranged all the pyrotechnical effects for the opening show: pots au feu, comets and roman candles were ignited from more than 70 positions on the roof and in the centre of the stadium. There were fire pictures, pyrotechnical waterfall cascades and walking acts equipped with numerous effects. Furthermore a circulating domino effect created a sequence within the stadium. All these effects we integrated into one colourful opening ceremony with hundreds of performers, children and animals. The ceremony ended with fireworks synchronized to the music. Thus we made the night sky of Abu Dhabi shine resplendently in a sea of golden and silver sparkles.
All 2500 electrical contacts were controlled by a computer. Some were managed by time code, others were manually ignited. The manual ignitions were necessary because of the involvement of persons and animals.
Another fireworks display synchronous to music was the culmination of the closing show, supported by shots of glitter in colours of the next host country. This way, the U21 World Champions Ship received its emotional, dignified closure.
