The challenge
Arrangement of a fire spectacle on the monument “Siegessäule” that captures a large audience. The extraordinary circumstances of the location and date as well as the direct contact to the spectators only allowed the use of special pyrotechnical effects.

The solution
The production “Colours” was a spectacle that included fire, lights, special effects and music. It was like a dance with visions or a game with fantasy and different emotions. In co-operation with Nico Feuerwerk, we created pictures that generated different entiments in the spectators' minds. Different colours transported the spectators into new atmospheres with various moods and characters. Colours and pictures are important for the emotional force of an event. The music affects the corporeal sensation in a similar manner. Music  influences thinking, acting and feeling. The music of “Colours” is composed of Arabian, African and Western sounds.
Ten pyrotechnicians and six assistants need four days to prepare the monument. About 2000 pyrotechnical effects were installed in 16 positions in the basement and 24 positions at the monument. About 25 kilometres of cable were used for the wiring. The effects were ignited synchronously to the music cut. Because of the small distance to the audience, we use only material of the classes T1 and T2, different fire effects and some effects of the classes 4. These effects need a safety distance of 40 up to 50 metres. The monument with its architecture, as well as the geometrical forms and the atmosphere of the location always took centre stage.
