The Challange:
Design and implementation of staging the Palace of Culture in Warsaw, in honor of the EU presidency of Poland. Particularly the height of the building (231m), and the existing monument protection made the work on the Warsaw landmark to a major challenge.

The Solution
The 22 members of the FLASH ART team built an elaborated cable system within one and a half weeks, which allows the use of pyrotechnic effects on the building. The engineers were particularly careful while working on the monument protected Palace of Culture.

In close cooperation with the artistic director Christoph Matern (MM Communications) Markus Katterle developed the brilliant and extraordinary fireworks display concept. In addition, an elaborate lighting design has been developed together with Pawel Pajak (Spider).

The approximately 10-minute firework display was staged for the composition "Orava" Kilar Woiciech with very high accuracy. 7000 pyrotechnic effects, distributed at 132 locations were installed despite the difficult external conditions at the Palace of Culture. Two pyrotechnic waterfalls over 120m long which ran on both sides of the building bath the building in a stunning lighting effect. Of course the Polish national colors of red and white are considered in the concept, as well as the European colours yellow and blue. The use of various effects, in combination with the light and music concept, created an unique and the occasion worthy atmosphere. More than 80,000 spectators are astonished at the Plac Defilad in Warsaw.
